Let’s admit it – we all hate Homework as it is no fun, more so when you are running on a tight schedule. You are left with so little time and less energy but have a long way to go to complete your homework. Here are some hacks that will ease the pain and enable you to complete them faster.
When you have so much to complete, the immediate instinct when you get back home is to pull that notebook out and start working on the homework. However, it is prudent to have a plan to complete the homework.
The better way to do this. First, break down the homework into smaller tasks. Next, figure out what resources you will need and finally create a time estimate as to when you think it can be completed. Important to note here that you will be realistic about the timeline. This approach will eliminate the need to figure out what to next when you finish a task.
More often than not, during the homework, you will suddenly find a need for a specific book, or a calculator, Pencil, and whatnot. The list can go on and on. It is a good practice to identify each of the items required and then keep it handy before starting the homework.
One very important aspect of getting to like and complete your homework is to do it in a location that is peaceful and with fewer distractions. It would be a bad idea to watch TV and in parallel work on the homework. This will slow down your progress and eventually delay the completion time. Sitting in a quiet place will make sure you have your full attention on the homework and enable you to complete it faster and get back to watching your favorite show on Netflix.
It is difficult to live without our phones as they have become next to Water and Oxygen for us to survive. However, you will find that it is worth the effort to turn on the silent or airplane mode. Frequent interruptions in the form or calls or Social network notification will make you lose focus and derail the progress. The effort to bring your attention back to the homework can drain you out!
Though we said a resounding NO to watching TV, it is OK to listen to Music. Wait, there is a catch. It is OK as long as it is classical music that you want to listen to. Why you may ask? Just like TV and Phone, any music with lyrics will only be a distraction. While classical music will keep you calm and composed to let you focus on the homework.
After a long day at school, you will be tired both physically and mentally. So before starting with the homework, eat a light snack and hydrate yourself by drinking lots of water. However, sugary snacks and soda or energy drinks should be avoided as they will only induce sleep rather than keep you active.
Even though you have planned and go about doing your homework in an organized way, it can be painful to do it all at a stretch. Your plan should also include a short break in between. In order not to be slowed down, you can plan a small 30 minutes sessions where you take a short 5-minute break after 25 minutes.
Rewards do rejuvenate our brains. Since Homework isn’t fun and can easily create negativity, it is a good practice to reward yourself after homework is completed. Rewards could be as simple as eating your favorite chocolate or ice cream or watching a movie or anything that is purely fun-filled. This will replenish your system to be ready for another long homework or assignment.
